In its new version, Camaleonda retains the elements that made it a timeless icon. The 90×90 cm seating modules, backrest, and armrest, together with the characteristic capitoné, remain faithful to the original design developed by Mario Bellini in 1970. This special capitoné continues to be crafted using an innovative system of cables, hooks, and rings, preserving both its aesthetic structure and customization options.
However, the interior of the sofa has been completely redesigned to improve comfort compared to the original version and make it more sustainable. The new internal structure is designed in a “sandwich” system, using layers of recycled or recyclable materials that can be easily disassembled. The seat base, backrest, and armrests are made from wood panels, while the padding consists of polyurethane layers of varying density and support, shaped to work in synergy like a spring, ensuring superior comfort. This engineering choice not only enhances comfort but also makes the sofa fully disassemblable, facilitating recycling.
One of Camaleonda’s distinctive features is its almost unlimited modularity, a geometric nature that allows the sofa to be composed in infinite configurations, transforming it into a giant “pixel” through which to personalize and define the home space. Thanks to the cables and rings, the various modules can be easily detached and recombined, allowing the sofa to adapt to changing tastes and user needs while maintaining its unique identity. Additionally, Camaleonda can be upholstered in the entire range of fabrics and leathers from the B&B Italia collection, offering endless possibilities for combination and customization.
